Safe and Fireless Fourth of July Goodies Bags For Kids
I remember clearly being too young on the Fourth of July to shoot off fireworks. When we moved within city limits that upheld strict no firework codes, this little bag came in handy to still give the kids a chance to "blow something up". If you want a great inexpensive idea on how to include children in your next Fourth of July get together, please allow me to show you how to put together a goodie bag...it includes bangs and noises! Using cellophane bags, I stuffed it full of items that create a bang, but don't require fire. You can find these items ahead of time through wholesale toy companies online or an open all year firework store. They will be less costly if you go online (for example, Oriental Trading Company). The items I have included in this bag:
Red, White, and Blue Glow Sticks
Hand Blasters (You know? Two Balls you bang together that create a loud noise and spark.)
Snaps (Should be able to buy this very cheap in bulk-include a couple)
Champagne Poppers (make a game out of who can pick up the most streamers for a prize so you won't be left with confetti all over your yard)
BIG Party Poppers
Bag Bombs (really cool, you shake them and throw them and they pop, like a baggy filled with air-safer than they sound)
Foam Airplane packaged in red, white, and blue or any other small toys
I found bags of silver metallic fill at a local dollar store and filled the back of a cellophane bag (party stores have them) to hold the other items in place. Want a secret to saving money on curly bows? I purchase mine in different colors inexpensively, remove the staples, and pull them apart. You can get 3-5 bows out of one.
There you have it! A safe alternative to lighting fireworks. I wasn't surprised to hear the adults at our party begging for a bag, either. In fact, we made a rhythm game out of holding the Hand Blasters (plus, it smells good!)!
As always, leave out or put in what you want! Get creative!
